Celebrating Climate Action Week at Biode

Climate Change Action Week is an annual event dedicated to raising awareness about climate change and galvanizing communities worldwide into action. This week-long initiative brings together individuals, organizations, and governments to engage in activities that highlight the urgency of addressing the climate crisis and to promote sustainable practices. Biode takes time during climate action week to take stock of our place on the planet, what we take and what we try to give, the ways in which we work to reduce our footprint and provide natural solutions with our brand.  

Here’s what we are doing to make sure we are in alignment with our climate action values:

1. Provide luxe, natural ingredient amenity solutions for hotels, spas, BnBs and homes who want refillable bulk products with minimal waste. Our Biomenities range was born in 2024 to provide this and we’ve seen a huge positive response to the products. We have biodegradable refills coming soon to add to this range of recycled and recyclable liquid body care products.
2. Sell any less-than perfect products at cost rather than throwing anything away. Our perfectly imperfect range is updated online anytime we have a batch of products where a few have bubbles, drips or rips that don’t change the quality of the product. We have sold out of these every time we put them up for sale so apparently you guys love this idea too!
3. Educate about waterless, compostable and waste-free products and continue to provide our high quality, all-natural waste free line of body care products.
4. Align ourselves with organisations we believe are working to change the world. Our continued connection to Sea Shepherd Australia is designed to not only educate about ocean-friendly products, but to provide financial support to their mission to use direct action to defend marine wildlife and protect their habitat in the world’s oceans. Every cent of profit from our Sea Shepherd body bar soaps goes to towards this mission.
5. And a new one for us – to use our social media presence more effectively to share the work of the incredible people who are trying to make a difference on a global and local level. Check out our Instagram stories to see the organisations we believe in and admire.

 There will be lots of initiatives in your local area that you can get involved with for Climate Action Week.  Across Australia, schools and universities are hosting educational workshops and sustainability projects, empowering students with knowledge and hands-on experience in environmental stewardship. Communities are coming together for tree-planting events, beach clean-ups, and local recycling drives, emphasizing the importance of grassroots action. Major cities like Sydney and Melbourne are organizing eco-fairs and green markets, showcasing sustainable products and practices. Additionally, various environmental NGOs are holding seminars and panels, featuring climate scientists and activists to discuss pressing issues and solutions. Policy advocacy is a key focus, with rallies and social media campaigns urging the government to implement stronger climate policies.

 Ultimately, Climate Change Action Week serves as a powerful reminder that combating climate change requires collective effort and it requires the work of business, community, government and individuals. It is a chance for us to take stock and make sure we are practising what we preach and that while we are a business, that we are global citizens first and foremost.
